Race horse ‘Sea The Stars’ has been crowned as one of the greatest ever, after his fantastic run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The three year old has landed six Group One wins this season include the unique treble of the 2,000 Guineas, the Derby and now the Arc. Ex champion Jockey Willie Carson said: “He’s got so much ability. We’ve seen one of the best horses ever.”

Sea The Stars was given a TimeForm rating of 140 after a stunning win in the Irish Champion Stakes, the rating could even improve after a stunning performance in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The rating puts him up there with legends like Shergar, Dancing Brave and Dubai Millennium.

Sad news in racing as the 1992 Grand National winner ‘Party Politics’ is put to sleep due to old age. Party Politics has a great chaser and had an enviable record in the National. Winning in 1992 with Carl Llewellyn on board and going well in the famous void race 12 months later before finishing second to Royal Athlete in 1995. He had 8 career wins and won over £250,000 for his owners.

Carl Llewellyn said of Party Politics: “He was a fantastic jumper of the National fences, and gave me one of the best days of my life.
“It was a real shame that he never got the chance to win back-to-back Grand Nationals, as he was going significantly better at The Chair in the 1993 void National than when he won it in 1992.”

It’s still too early for official entries for the 2010 Grand National. However, it is expected that last years winner Mon Mome will be pointed at the race again. It’s a certainty that the handicapper will not be as generous with the weights he give Mon Mome in 2009.

Punters will have to wait until March 2010 for a true picture of the official runners to emerge. Several bookmakers are already giving ante post odds on a number of likely entrants.
