How To Place A Bet
The video above will guide you through making a bet with a bookmaker, the example is a ‘Win Only’ bet. The ‘Win Only’ bet is the most common type of bet in horse racing. This is when you back a horse to come first (win) in a race. Lets say you bet £10 that the horse ‘Mon Mome’ will win the 2010 Grand National at odds of 100/1. Should ‘Mon Mome’ come first you will get back £1000 from the bookmakers plus your original £10 stake.
Should ‘Mon Mome’ fall, finish second, third or anywhere else but first place then you will lose your £10 stake. Remember you can also bet online with the likes of William Hill and Ladbrokes ~ it’s far less intimating than betting in the high street and you also get free bet deals exclusive to new online customers. Bet Calculator ~ Work Out Winnings
The Bet Calculator is set up by default to work out winnings for standard single UK bets. For example: if you’ve placed a £5 bet on a horse to win the Grand National at odds of 16/1, just enter 5 into the “Your Stake” box then enter 16 in the “Bet 1″ box and 1 in the next box along, after the / symbol. Then just click the green “Calculate” button to work out the winnings you should get back from the bookies. Our calculator only accepts whole numbers and will round up or down to the nearest £1.
If you’ve bet you horse each way then make sure you click the small “Each Way” square button next the stake box.
The calculator can also work out multiple selection bets such as “Doubles” and “Triples”. To do this just enter the odds of the other horses and remember to click the small “Double” or “Triple” round buttons. You can also enter odds in the European/American style (11.00) by clicking on the “decimal” button.
